First Time for Everything
On March 6th and 7th the Wishbone Foundation held the first Wishbone Bereavement training session. The day was met with feelings of anticipation and excitement. Thirty nine trainees were in attendance ranging from nurses to social workers to chaplains. They each represented 6 hospitals from across the Denver Metro Area.
The 2-day training incorporated real life scenarios with comprehensive bereavement skill training. The attendees received hands-on training from nurses and doctors of psychology who taught them how to understand and cope with a family losing a child on a personal level. They were also able to hear from parents that suffered a loss and what types of experiences they had.
The feedback received was overwhelmingly positive and serves as a true testament to the mission and vision of the Wishbone Foundation. All six hospitals have expressed interest and confirmed attendees for the next training.
